Active Reading – Another Class
This semester my active reading skills that I learned in my English Composition class actually really helped me in a lot of my other classes. One specific class that it has really helped me in is my Human Traditions class. In this class there is a lot of reading, ranging from non-fiction, primary sources taken from throughout history, or medical journals. Obviously, from all this reading material there is a lot of information to take in. My active reading strategies have really helped me understand the information and actively participate in class discussions about the reading. In the dense readings, I am able to annotate and make notes about the author’s arguments and summarize what I am reading. It makes reading heavier material a lot easier and more comprehendible. Also, by active reading and participating in class discussions, I am able to also write my essays in the class a lot easier because I know what I am writing about and not confused.
