Drafting in Another Class

Drafting in Another Class

This semester for my Human Traditions class I have had to write a lot, whether it be short paragraphs or longer essays accounting for a good portion of my grade. Given I have written a lot for that class, I have had to draft and revise a lot too. One specific assignment was our midterm essay, which accounted for 15% of my total grade. It was a three to four page essay in which we had to answer a prompt with sufficient evidence from in class discussions and readings. I had a huge drafting process for this essay. I ended up writing an outline and two drafts. I started out with planning an outline of what the prompt was and how I would organize my essay around the ideas I had. After that, I wrote my first draft based on that outline. I revised that first draft by printing it out and reading it out loud and making global and local revisions, like I learned in my English Composition class. After, I had one of my friends read it over and asked them to revise it as well so I could get another pair of eyes to catch mistakes that I might have missed. After all of the global and local revisions I made, I ended up with my final draft in which I read over again to make sure it all flowed and I was confident in it.
