Nursing Care of Children CAT ATI

Nursing Care of Children CAT ATI

Overall, I feel as if I did pretty well considering I had just finished the pediatric section of the semester. Looking back, a majority of the questions I got incorrect were more relevant with the “med-surg” component of pediatrics, especially medication questions and select all that apply questions. I have noticed a trend across this exam as well as other subjects, that I tend to answer incorrectly when it comes to adverse effects of medications, when to notify the provider, and lab values that have to do with therapeutic levels of medications. This is a content area I have been continuing to work on as it has always been my lowest scoring section. It is a lot of memorizations with the lab values and the reference range, and I am not the best at memorizing those numbers all the time. I have been reviewing adverse effects, reference ranges, and lab values and I will continue to do so throughout the rest of the semester because it is a big portion of NCLEX and I want to be prepared.

I noticed that I performed well on the questions that had to do with the developmental levels of children, what is expected vs not expected, what could indicate a developmental delay, and how to best provide atraumatic care to children of every age group. I was able to answer these questions with more ease because we had been going over it throughout the entire first half of the semester and I feel like lectures and my simulation experience really helped me answer those questions. I was able to effectively apply the nursing concepts with developmental considerations of children to answer these questions.
